 The workshop will be held in Aix-en-Provence, a beautiful  town located in the south of France, well known for its historic and cultural heritage. The city is also famous for its colourful markets, its numerous fountains and its animated sidewalks cafés.

Access

Marseille-Provence international airport is only 20 kilometers from Aix (Nice is about 150 km). There are very frequent flights from Paris to Marseille. An advice : check that your flight in-Paris and out-Paris are from the same airport (changing airport is unpleasant after a long flight).
From the airport, you have frequent bus connections to Aix (30 mn). (see schedule) Aix is located 30 km away from Marseille Saint Charles train station (see French railways company SNCF for more information). From the station, you have frequent train and bus connections to Aix (30 mn).
The TGV station Aix-en-Provence is about 15 min away by bus. Aix is located at the intersection between highway A7 (Paris-Lyon), A51 (Alps), and A8 (Nice-Italy).

Accommodation

Due to the Aix Festival, a limited number of rooms has been booked. Three possibilities are available within a walking distance to the campus : two hotels and one residence. The residence is suitable for a family stay.

1/ Hotel La Rotonde (***) located in the centre of Aix-en-Provence, hotel La Rotonde has 42 comfortable and air-conditionned rooms, all equiped with mini-bar, direct phone, modem plugg and satellite TV, a pleasant bar in the hall and private car park and garage.

Single room (with shower and toilets), breakfast included : 63 Euros/night. (in 2001, 2003 prices not yet available)

2/ les Citadines Aix-Forbin (***) Résidence hôtelière

55 Euros/night.

3/ Hotel Residence "Les Jardins Mozart" :

3 minutes walk from the Cours Mirabeau, the residence is situated in the new residential and cultural area of Aix-en-Provence. This very new building holds 90 fully furnished flats, from one to four rooms. The residence offers services as :

- *T2 occupied by 1 person doubles the price per person, i.e. 430 Euros/week for 1 week.  
- Reservation requires an advance of 76 Euro. Within 3 days of arrival a deposit of 150 Euro/person
is required (which is returned at the end of the stay).
