Scope and history

Topics:

A. Plasma Applications

B. Space and Astrophysical Plasmas

C. Fundamental Plasma Physics

D. Fusion Plasmas

Both theoretical and experimental results have been presented and discussed.

The scientific programme includes invited papers (plenary and review), as well as oral and poster presentation of contributed papers.

The first International Congress on Plasma Physics was held in 1980 in Nagoya, when the fourth Kiev International Conference on Plasma Theory (this series having been held in Kiev in 1971 and 1974 and Trieste in 1977) was combined with the fourth International Congress on Waves and Instabilities in Plasmas (this series having been held in Innsbruck in 1973 and 1975 and Palaiseau in 1977).

Subsequent International Congresses on Plasma Physics were held in:

Göteborg (1982) Foz do Iguaçu (1994)
Lausanne (1984) Nagoya (1996)
Kiev (1987) Prague (1998)
New Delhi (1989) Quebec City (2000))
