Magnetic configuration of the tokamak
|
- Toroidal field (or toric): generated by external coils (in grey on the drawing)
- Poloidal field: generated by the plasma current, flowing toroidally in the machine. The plasma current is inducted by transformer effect, with the plasma as secondary (primary circuit in orange, poloidal magnetic coils in yellow on the drawing).
